Submitted by jeff on Sun, 05/14/2023 - 10:10

The next planning meeting is on May 21st, 3-5:00PM, at Anderson Branch Library in Lincoln NE (3635 Touzalin Avenue).

If you would like to help with the next ConStellation, or want to get a feel for what goes into putting on a convention, you are welcome to attend.  These planning meetings are open to the public.

We will be discussing how things went at ConStellation 12, and brainstorming what we might want to try for ConStellation 13.  We will also be discussing positions in the convention and what roles we would like to find additional help with.

Diane Taurins: Artist Guest of Honor

Submitted by ryan on Wed, 03/22/2023 - 18:27

Hi, I'm Diane Taurins. I don’t do art as a full-time job, but I have a wonderful studio at home, and I’m always thinking of ideas and imagining pieces I’d like to do.

I do pieces primarily for myself. I make things that I’d want to hang on my own walls at home. If someone else likes them and wants to buy them, that’s a bonus. It's fun to see photos of my artwork on other people's walls.

NebKon is the oldest and largest Japanese animation (anime) convention in the state of Nebraska, and she is a founding leader of the event. Becky's leadership in the anime community started while serving for four years as the president of Otaku Jinrui: The UNL Anime Club. In 2004, the club decided to host a one-day event for a fund-raiser. When 300 people attended, the club decided to continue to run the event each year.

Sarah has been attending science fiction conventions since the late seventies. The artwork she most enjoys creating are those connected with the fantastic and she is gratified at the response of con-goers to her award-winning paintings of Magnus & Loki, the cat and dragon companions, which have been the most fun of all her fantastic creations. Sarah works in a photo-real style, mostly in oils.
